Catch on the latest updates and insights about the Assemblr ecosystem, immersive technology, and EdTech industry—all in one site.
We are proud to announce that Apple featured us in the App Store’s top AR picks this week! In US iOS App Store, we're highlighted along with other awesome apps, ranging from educational tools to children games, which have embraced AR in a unique or innovative way.
Ever since Apple introduced ARKit, a tool for developers (like us) to make AR apps for iPhone and iPad in 2017, they've been continuously promoting augmented reality and its possibilities. In conjunction with the App Store, Apple has a page on its website dedicated to showcasing the capabilities of augmented reality on iOS.
Apple’s promotion of ARKit apps comes on the heels of reports about the company’s plans to build AR-enabled glasses. Bloomberg reported that Apple aims to have the technology ready in 2019 and could ship a product as early as 2020. Talk about getting a better eyesight soon, huh.
What's more, Tim Cook personally has been a big enthusiast of AR's potentials. In an interview with Financial Post, the Apple CEO expressed,
“I believe that AR is the most profound technology of the future. It amplifies human performance. It amplifies humans, not substitutes, and doesn’t isolate. I’m a huge believer in it.”
“I see AR taking off very quickly. I see developers across Canada adopting at a very fast rate, bringing their craft to market and I couldn’t be happier with it.”
Anyway, this is an awesome acknowledgement of what we’ve been building here at our office, but more importantly this helps us reach more people and grow our community, which we're really excited about. Looking forward to see new faces around!
