For Indonesians, Rupiah has been their daily currency—a transaction tool for us to purchase stuff and do activities.
However, little do they know that each Rupiah bill with its nominal always consists of engaging stories and meaning behind it.
There are many local, full-of-heritage elements in the Rupiah bill. But we failed to notice it since we actually don’t pay attention to it.
That’s what Bank Indonesia has been struggling with so far. The idea that Rupiah is only seen as a transaction tool and leaving behind the elements somehow makes Bank Indonesia contemplate.
There has to be a way to boost Rupiah awareness for people around them. And that’s why BI came up with a solution—they wanted to make a fun educational app for people to learn Rupiah.
Hence AR Rupiah was born. It was actually a collaboration with Assemblr; we helped them realize their ideas from scratch, starting from the app making, 3D visualizations, to AR gamification system.
AR Rupiah is an AR-based educational game app, which is somehow not monotonous, to help people learn about Rupiah in a fun and less-intimidating way due to its gamification.
When people play, they can pop up their AR portals around their surroundings, which will bring them travel to iconic travel destinations in Indonesia inside each Rupiah bill.
Not to mention, they can also learn more about Indonesian culture and heritages, starting from flora and fauna, traditions, and many more.
As you explore the places, you will also find a few quiz questions that you can answer. Every correct answer will gain you points—and the more points you get, the bigger the chance for you to get the prizes.
Since BI blends fun elements with education, of course, it’s going to be easier for people to absorb the information.
Ever since launched in 2021, AR Rupiah has been set as the star for every local exhibition and even be brought for many competitions.
Just recently, Bank Indonesia also held the AR Rupiah Competition—a nationwide competition for people to learn and play about Rupiah with AR Rupiah.
So, do you have any AR ideas that you think are still out of touch? We can help you realize them and elevate your brands! Get in touch with us and send us your inquiries—we’d be happy to help you.
